Success starts with a plan. Of course, things aren’t likely to go as planned, but a good plan provides a framework and orientation for building an agile, valuable business.
In too many instances, the polished business plan is nothing more than a highly thought out collection of concepts and ideals, tied together by wishful thinking – none of which will result in customers and dollars flying through your doors.
You need the appropriate blend of focus, strategy, and tactics. Focus means knowing where you want your business to go and, more important, why you want it to go there. Strategy is a systemic plan of action. Tactics are the processes and procedure: the specific action that you take to achieve your main objectives. Instead of a business plan, you and your business might be better served by a Strategic Action Plan.
George Huang is the founder of Freedompreneur, Inc. A former board-certified plastic surgeon, overcoming the challenges of starting his practice inspired him to become the business guide and mentor that he wished he had had early in his career. In 2005, he became somewhat of a folk legend after he created a sustained, annualized six-figure revenue stream in 73 days.
